This deciduous Texas Native is the showiest of ornamental grasses. Purple and pink flowers sprout like feathers from the end of grassy stalks, bringing life to flower beds with fading annuals. In mass planting, the Gulf Muhly looks like a rolling sea of soft, cotton candy-like tufts. Bees, butterflies, and birds love this grass.
It is naturally found in clay or thin rocky soils. It tolerates heat and humidity. It is also highly tolerant of salt. This plant also has little to no risk for disease and insect pests. Deer also avoid it. This makes the Gulf Coast Muhly Grass a versatile and hardy grass with high ornamental value.
